Local Plumber Myrtle Beach: Summer Plumbing Problems

Local Plumber Myrtle Beach: Summer Plumbing Problems

It's almost August. Summer is two-thirds of the way gone and the kids will be going back to school soon. If you haven't encountered any plumbing issues this summer, then great job! But that doesn't mean you are in the clear just yet. With the heat here in Myrtle Beach at an all-time high, there are a few problems that could arise in your home. Here are a few things that could go wrong, straight from the most trusted plumber Myrtle Beach has to offer:

1. No Cold Water – Have you tried taking a cold shower on a hot day this summer only to find scalding hot water? Pehaps you just finished cutting the grass or came home from the gym and this is the last thing you were looking for. If it's hot outside (like it has been), simply let your water run a bit longer than usual to get that cold water you were looking for. Problem solved!

2. Air Conditioning Drains – When was the last time your air conditioning drain was cleaned? The humidity of the summer is the prime time for mold growth. If there is a blockage in your drain from deposits built up over time, mold, mildew and fungus can and will grow. Obviously, exposure to mold spores and gasses in your home can be hazardous to your family's health. We recommend cleaning your drain once a year.

3. Clogged Toilets – As we mentioned in last month's blog post on summer plumbing issues, clogged toilets occur more frequently in summer months due to increased usage. With the kids being home from school and family visiting your Myrtle Beach home, more people are using the bathroom. It's just simple math.

4. Expanding Pipes & Low Water Preasure – High temperatures can cause your pipes to burst just low the low temperatures can. If you are experiencing a change in water pressure, there's a good change that your pipes might be on the edge. Pressure changes can be caused by corrosion build up, leaks and water supply malfunctions. If your water pressure is lower than what you are used to, let us know.

We hope everyone has enjoyed a great summer thus far. We still have one full month left to go, so hopefully you can enjoy it to the fullest. If you happen to encounter any issues with your plumbing, please give Benjamin Franklin Plumbing a call at 843.213.6611.
